User Help: MS Access Version Determination

To check the version, and Service Pack status, of your copy of MS Access you must first open MS Access (such as from your Windows Start menu).

MS Access 97, 2000, 2002/XP, 2003

Versions of MS Access prior to 2007 have a menubar across the top - with Help on the far right.

On the menubar click on Help and then, in the dropdown menu, click on About Microsoft Access - which will display version, and any Service Pack information, in a popup window.

You will see something like this: Microsoft Access 2002 (10.6501.6626) SP3.

The SP3 on the end indicates Service Pack 3. If no Service Pack has been applied there will be nothing after the bracketed number.

MS Access 2007

In MS Access 2007 there is, instead of a menubar, the new Office Button on the far left. Click on it, then click on Access Options (in the bottom right corner), then Resources (in the bottom left of the Options window) - which will display the MS Access version and any Service Pack information at the bottom of the Access Options window.

You will see something like this: Microsoft Access 2007 (12.0.6211.1000) SP1 MSO (12.0.6213.1000).

The SP1 between the bracketed numbers indicates Service Pack 1. If nothing appears after the first bracketed numbers then no Service Pack has been applied.
